What could be more seductive than being able to create reality then bend it to your own vision? In our media world we see animated characters, funny bouncy text in our commercials and banners, but creating your own world can be the most intriguing invitation from your 3D graphics applications free 3d models. Let’s meet landscape.
Cinema4D ‘landscape’ is a great way to get a head start on your landscape modeling scene. When you choose landscape from your primitive menu, you already have a detailed contoured landscape. With adjustment parameters like ‘rough furrows’ and ‘sea level’ you have a primitive that is already designed for this type model. You can focus on appearance with adjustable parameters that describe land and contour.
Landscape is a primitive which you can choose directly from the primitive pull down menu. In the attributes manager, make an expansive landscape, perhaps 5,000 for X and Z (width and depth), and 500 for Y (height). You can use the magnet tool to carve out a water pool or more pronounced curvature in your landscape free 3d models.
An introduction to some of the adjustable parameters, crossed with a Sci-Fi movie can be an exercise in animating your landscape. Animate it coming into being, breathing in life and new substance. We could really have some fun here with volcanoes and explosions of inner Earth but it might be more useful to focus on the landscape itself and save some of the pyrotechnics for later.
Our Earth creation must have the substance of Life, there must be water. Probably the best way to create water is with an emitter. Add an emitter then create a small sphere or capsule. Make your sphere object a child of the emitter by dragging in on top. Be sure and check the ‘Show Objects’ parameter for your emitter which will tell it to replace the default particle with the child objects you have chosen. This lets you replace particles with any of your choosing. Here we want a simple, quick cartoon appearance of rushing water. Place your emitter in the mountains. You will have to do some adjustments, align your flow of water coming out of the mountains. At first have the flow move away from the mountains, and then add some ‘gravity’ or a ‘deflector’ from the emitter menu to style your water flowing down the mountainside.
I’ve had fun animating the landscape height. This is my mountain range coming into being. You can adjust the ‘plateau’ to create a desert plateau appearance free 3d models. You can adjust the emitter values such as birthrate and seed to develop the appearance of your waterfall and you can set a start or stop emission at any frame in your composition. In our adventure here, you can have your water and waterfall come into being as your mountains rise out of the sea!
